TSA Cambridge Background & Research

Why use TSA Cambridge?

Cambridge Assessment provides research-led and evidence based solutions for major higher education institutions. Most applicants to University of Cambridge will be equally highly qualified. There are more applicants onto popular courses than there are places. The University of Cambridge has therefore identified the need for an additional method to identify candidates' suitability and potential for success. The TSA is not subject specific, and so the scores can be used across a wide range of subjects.

Background

The University of Cambridge started using the TSA in 2001. It was found to be a successful predictor of degree outcomes and its use has expanded through the university. Twenty seven of the twenty nine colleges now require applicants to take the TSA for a number of courses, including Natural Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science and Economics.

After the success of the TSA the University of Cambridge requested a Critical Thinking only version of the TSA to be developed for use on their Social and Policital Sciences course (SPS).
